Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions clients and families ask most before reaching out to The Emerald — admissions, cost, treatment approach, confidentiality, family visits, what to bring, and safety.
Most travellers need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arriving. As of a 2026 policy change, it's issued free for travellers from 40 eligible countries, though it's still required. The standard tourist ETA allows a 30-day stay. Check the current rules for your nationality with Sri Lanka's Department of Immigration and Emigration before booking.
Admissions starts with a confidential enquiry, not a commitment. From there, The Emerald's Clinical Manager arranges an assessment call, including a brief screening, before any plan is built.
The Emerald offers therapeutic weekend excursions to three partner locations: Ashburnham Estate, a hill-country tea estate with private waterfalls; Rukgala Retreat, a lakeside yoga and wellness space near Victoria Reservoir; and a selection of private villas on Sri Lanka's west and south coast beaches.
